Wedding Venue Near Holland, Michigan

Twenty miles south of Holland, where the Kalamazoo River runs through evergreen woods and fruit orchards, you'll find a little white chapel that's been standing since 1889. The drive takes about twenty-five minutes.

We host one wedding a day, so the property is yours from start to finish. Up to 110 guests, with the ceremony, the reception, the getting ready, and beds on site if you want them.

A wedding venue near Holland, open every month of the year

Here's something worth knowing while you plan. Several of the loveliest spots around Holland hold their weddings between the middle of May and September, and they are glorious in those months. Windmill Island Gardens in tulip season is genuinely hard to beat.

If your heart is set on October when the orchards turn, or on a February afternoon with the fire pit going, we'd love to host you. We book every month of the year. The chapel has heat, the reception tent handles weather, and a winter wedding here looks like something out of a story.

You'll also park 45 to 50 cars right here on the property, whatever month you choose.

Tulip Time, and why your date matters more here

Every May, Holland fills with six million tulips and the visitors who come to see them. If your date lands in that window, you'll get a town in full bloom for your weekend. Do book your guests' rooms early, because Tulip Time fills the hotels months ahead.

If you're marrying outside the festival, you'll find Holland lodging easy to come by, and twenty-five minutes is a short drive for a room your guests will be happy with.

Either way, your guests get the Dutch heritage, the beaches and that walkable downtown, and you get a private property in the countryside for the day itself.

A wedding chapel, standing since 1889

Whether you're a forest, field, or lakeshore kind of soul, Holland has something for you. A rooftop over Lake Macatawa. A hotel ballroom. An industrial space downtown. A garden beside a working windmill. And twenty-five minutes south, a country chapel.

Ours has stood here more than 130 years. We restored it rather than replacing it. The stained glass is original to 1889, and so are the wood floors and the hymn board. The bell still hangs in the tower, and you're welcome to ring it once you're married. It's an old way of telling the whole valley there's been a wedding, and it still works.

What your rental includes

One rental gives you the whole property, not a room inside it.

Bring your own licensed caterer and bar service, or work from the vendor list we've built up over the years. You won't hit a food and beverage minimum, and you won't hit a guest count minimum either. You'll never share the day with a second wedding, because we only ever book one.

And if the thought of your family stacking chairs at midnight tires you out already, add our walk-away fee for $300 and simply leave when the night ends.

Where your guests will stay

We keep two apartments on the property that sleep up to seven between them. They come with our inclusive package, and you can add them to the overnight micro package too. You'll find short-term rentals within a few miles of us.

Holland itself has plenty of rooms for your guests, from the boutique hotels downtown to the chain properties out by the highway, and Saugatuck sits between us if they fancy a lake town instead. Give them the choice and let them pick their own weekend.

Book an overnight package and you'll have the place from the day before, which takes the rush out of decorating and rehearsal entirely. For a one-day booking, you're in from 10am.

Making a weekend of it around Holland

Most of our couples have people traveling in, and this stretch of the lakeshore gives them plenty to do:

• Windmill Island Gardens and De Zwaan, the working Dutch windmill that came over in 1964

• Tulip Time in May, if your date lands anywhere near it

• Big Red, the lighthouse at the Holland channel, and Holland State Park beside it

• Eighth Street downtown, which stays walkable and heated underfoot all winter

• Fenn Valley Winery, on our side of the drive, with a tasting room and award-winning wines

• Salt of the Earth and Root, both in downtown Fennville, minutes from the chapel

Elopements and smaller celebrations near Holland

Want the chapel without the whole wedding? Our elopement package runs two hours for up to 50 guests, and it gives you the chapel, your own ready room and a professional officiant. Add hours if you need them. We run elopements Monday through Thursday from April to October, and any day of the week from November through March.

We host vow renewals, commitment ceremonies, family gatherings and dinner parties as well. It doesn't have to be a wedding at all.

What it costs

Couples who marry here usually work with a total wedding budget somewhere between $12,000 and $25,000, depending on your guest count and who you hire. We'd rather tell you that now than after you've fallen for the place.

We ask for a third of the rental to hold your date. Booking within four months of the day? Then we ask for two thirds. The rest falls due two months out, along with proof of one-day liability insurance. Cash, check or credit card, whichever suits you.
